Four Seasons Tamarindo

Costalegre, Jalisco, Mexico

Perched on a lush private peninsula on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo is scheduled to open in mid-2022 and will be the fourth property in Mexico for the Four Seasons Hotel brand.

The western Mexican state of Jalisco may be most famous for its tequila production, but the opening of Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo in 2022 in Costa Alegre provides yet another very good reason to visit. Set on a 2,000-acre protected eco-preserve between the towns of La Manzanilla and Barra de Navidad, the new 155-room resort is a collaboration between the Four Seasons brand—which already has four properties in Mexico—and Mexican real estate development company Paralelo 19 Desarrollos.

Besides the staggering hilltop views 650 feet above sea level that sweep over dramatic Pacific Ocean beaches and the wild green jungle for which the region is famous for, Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo will also include near-endless stretches of pristine beaches; four food and beverage offerings; three Instagram-friendly cascading infinity pools; a spacious spa set among the topical rainforest; and 18-hole, 72 par championship golf course designed by golf architect David Fleming.

Most of the 155 rooms (including 63 suites) have panoramic ocean vistas and some include private infinity pools. Wood and stone features prominently and whirling overhead fans, sunken tubs, draping hammocks and slatted sliding doors create a relaxed tropical ambience. The interior design comes care of Legorreta + Legorreta and Taller Mauricio Rocha + Gabriela Carrillo, whose use of natural and local materials nod to the surrounding natural landscape and traditional Mexican craftsmanship.

An amazing spot for kayaking, deep-sea fishing and surfing, ocean activities will be a major draw, as will land-based activities and excursions like mountain biking and wildlife tours of the nearby mangroves. The small fishing village of La Manzanilla with a Friday Street Market, authentic eateries and a women’s-cooperative-owned coffee plantation, is also within easy reach.

Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo will be part of the El Tamarindo development. It’s located within a 40-minute drive from Manzanillo International Airport, which offers seasonal direct flights from the US and daily flight connections through Mexico City. The resort is currently slated to open at the end of 2021 and will join four existing Four Seasons properties in Mexico, including Four Seasons Resort Punta MitaFour Seasons Hotel Mexico CityFour Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, and the forthcoming Four Seasons Resort Cabo San Lucas at Cabo Del Sol.

OPENING MID 2022

Escape to a secluded natural reserve in Mexico’s Tamarindo, the pristine coastline where verdant jungle meets the Pacific Ocean. With our unique location on a private peninsula, Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo invites you to leave the world behind and explore this undiscovered region of Mexico – far from everything, yet remotely close.

This particular topography, and the wildlife that calls it home, make the area a treasure to be protected. We provide a natural refuge for those who seek an authentic connection to Mexico, its biodiversity and culture. The best of Mexico has yet to be discovered.

FEEL AT ONE WITH NATURE

Join our team of resident researchers and biologists for a morning hike through the reserve. In a destination where there are more animal footpaths than human footpaths, you’ll gain an intimate knowledge of this tropical seasonal jungle. Learn about the important work the biologists do in Tamarindo, including the camera traps they use for recording the native birds and animals. Your hike finishes at one of Tamarindo’s many secret lookout points, letting you take in the breathtaking view while enjoying an authentic Mexican breakfast.

IN CONVERSATION WITH THE STARS

When was the last time you saw the Milky Way? In the vibrant skies above Tamarindo, the stars are especially bright. Our staff astronomer guides you in a conversation with the stars – pointing out specific planets and constellations, while explaining the importance that the cosmos held for pre-Hispanic people, influencing their buildings and traditions. Enjoy this late-night experience at one of the many lookout points across the reserve.

UNTOUCHED AND UNPARALLELED

Within a natural reserve spanning 1,214 hectares (3,000 acres), Four Seasons is nestled on a private peninsula, featuring 10 kilometres (6 miles) of coastline, three swimmable beaches and several hidden coves to snorkel and discover unique nudibranchs along the Tamarindo coastline.

AN UNDISCOVERED NATURAL RESERVE

Perched at the southern end of the Costalegre, Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo is nestled in a 3,000-acre private natural reserve, home to more than 70 endemic species of flora and fauna, including the Tescalame tree, which grows horizontally. Visitors will also find 13 species of birds, 16 mammals, 11 amphibians and 30 reptiles that make their home in the reserve.

DINING IN PARADISE

A journey through Mexico’s flavours, aromas and traditions, the culinary program at Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo is led by culinary director, Nicolas Piatti. Our restaurants and bars invite you to enjoy food that is grown, harvested and eaten in harmony with the seasons.

A SOUL MADE OF COLOUR

We are proud to have built a resort with Mexican spirit. The architects from LegoRocha studio carry a great legacy of contemporary Mexican architecture, while the interior designers complement the buildings with sophisticated details and unique crafts made by Mexican artisans.

GOLF WITH PACIFIC VISTAS

Already established as one of the top courses in Mexico, our 18 hole, par 72 Tamarindo Golf course features breathtaking fairways fringed by palm trees and beaches. The award-winning design is by renowned golf architect David Fleming.

BREATHTAKING VIEWS

Relax into the effortless indoor-outdoor lifestyle of our spacious guest rooms and suites, distributed among three enclaves: the beach, the cliffs and the reserve. Striking architecture uses stone and wood to compose clean, geometric lines, allowing nature to be the protagonist.

A UNIQUE CORNER OF THE WORLD

Our private reserve provides countless opportunities for you to connect with nature – from hikes along our trails to visits to our Discovery Centre, where researchers will share their knowledge about the area, its biodiversity and the importance of preservation.
