“With the opening of W Punta de Mita, Mexico is the only country in Latin America to boast two W hotels, demonstrating its continued position as one of the most in-demand travel markets in the world,” said Jorge Giannattasio, Senior Vice-President and Chief of Latin America Operations for Starwood Hotels & Resorts. “We are thrilled as we continue to look for opportunities to bring our world-class hotel brands to the best destinations around the globe.”

The oceanfront W Punta de Mita has 120 guest villas, featuring lavish amenities and the W brand’s signature Whatever/Whenever service.

In addition, guests enjoy the hotel’s vibrant public spaces, including W Living Room (the W brand’s bustling spin on the hotel lobby) where guests can mix and mingle while sipping locally-inspired cocktails; W Lounge where guests can enjoy an unforgettable nightlife experience while listening to what’s new and next in music; WET outdoor pool deck with stunning views of the Pacific Coast and buzzing with W energy; and a signature restaurant that will delight the most discerning palettes.

For true indulgence, W Punta de Mita features a 4,000 square foot AWAY Spa with signature treatments and services as well as FIT, the ultimate workout facility.

Earlier this year the destination debuted the W Punta de Mita Resort, the second W hotel in Mexico. The resort is part of the multiuse oceanfront development, Los Veneros. The resort is inspired by the local bohemian surf culture, a la Sayulita and San Pancho. The design of the hotel celebrates the local culture, from the blues of the Bay of Banderas to the traditional patterns of the local Huichol people.

W Punta de Mita’s Living Room lobby is inspired by a traditional palapa, and is anchored by a rectangular bar that replicates an altar. Above the bar is a chandelier with more than 450 LED lights designed to look like church votives. Scattered throughout the space are long strands of beads around small cocktail tables.

Out on the Wet Deck are lounge chairs surrounding a pool with a DJ booth, all overlooking the beach. VIP cabanas are spread out around the perimeter, as well. The hotel has 119 guest villas including one Extreme Wow Suite. All villas and suites have private balconies or patios, artisanal Mexican tiled floors and headboards, as well as the signature W Bed and Bliss bath amenities.

W Punta de Mita also offers five dining spaces. Mesa1 sits on its own private island in the middle of a lake and accommodates one seating daily. Spice Market serves pan-Asian cuisine, while Chevicheria is perfect for happy hour snacks. Venazu is the all-day dining venue serving Mexican specialties.

Check into the 4,000-square-foot Away Spa, which is designed to feel like a forest cave. Other offerings include the Wave Surf Shop and a state-of-the-art fitness facility.

“Starwood is growing at an exciting pace in Latin America, and the W brand is a key player in this growth,” said Victor Vazquez, Vice President of Development and Acquisitions, Starwood Latin America. “Throughout the region, Starwood’s momentum is being driven by our ability to provide distinct design-led brands that exceed the expectations of developers, owners and travelers alike.

“With more than 25 million international tourists per year, Mexico continues to be an important and growing market for us, particularly for our luxury hotels,” Vazquez continued. “W Punta de Mita is the perfect addition to this booming landscape, offering the vibrancy and style that is unique to the W brand.”

W Punta de Mita is located in the Los Veneros multi-use oceanfront development, which is less than 10 miles away from Puerto Vallarta International Airport and 15 miles from downtown Puerto Vallarta.

In addition to W Punta de Mita, there are several other W hotels in the pipeline for Latin America, including W Panama, an urban hotel in the heart of the city set to open in 2017; W Riviera Maya – Kanai, set against the sparkling blue waters of the Caribbean and scheduled to open in 2018; and W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal, a tropical oasis that will debut in 2019.
